PE is a part of the Nelson Mandela Metropole, which is one of eight Metropolitan municipalities in the country. It is located on the shores of Algoa Bay, and comprises the city of Port Elizabeth, the nearby towns of Uitenhage and Despatch, and the surrounding rural area. The Metro is home to industrial giants such as Volkswagen, General Motors, Aspen, Continental and Goodyear, and served by two strategically important harbours in Algoa Bay, as well as an international airport.
